# Intro Offers, Class Packs and Memberships Explained

Many boutique studios sell classes in four ways. The right one depends on how often you will come. Always compare the cost per class and read the terms.

## The four ways to pay

**Drop-in.** You pay for one class. It usually costs the most per class. It lets you try a studio with no commitment. Our listings show the drop-in price when the studio gives it.

**Intro offer.** A discount for new students. It may be one class, a few classes or a short unlimited period. Studios usually allow it once per person. It may expire. Ask what it includes.

**Class pack.** You pay in advance for a set number of classes, such as 5 or 10. The cost per class is usually lower. A pack usually has an expiry date. Ask whether you can share a pack, freeze it or extend it.

**Membership.** You pay a regular fee. It may give unlimited classes or a set number each month. Most memberships renew until you cancel. Ask about the notice period.

## How to compare the cost

Divide the price by the number of classes you will use.

Example: a pack costs 100 and has 10 classes. The cost per class is 10. A drop-in costs 18. You save 8 per class. These numbers are an example only, not real prices.

Then ask how many classes you really attend each month. Count honestly. A pack you do not finish costs more per class than it looks. Use the class cost calculator on this site to check.

## Questions to ask before you buy

- What does the price include? Mat, towel, grip socks?
- When does a pack or the intro offer expire?
- Can I freeze or pause a membership? What does it cost?
- How do I cancel? How much notice must I give?
- Does the membership renew by itself? On what date?
- Are there fees for late cancels or no-shows?
- Can I use my pack at other studios in a group?
- Is tax included in the price?

## Read the terms

The terms are on the booking page or the sign-up form. Rules about auto-renewal, refunds and cancellation vary by country, region and studio. Check the terms before you pay. Keep a copy of the terms and the receipt. If you have a dispute you cannot solve, contact your local consumer protection agency.

## A simple plan

1. Use the intro offer to try two or three studios.
2. Choose the studio you like best.
3. Buy a small pack, not a long membership.
4. Track how often you attend for two months.
5. Move to a membership only if you come often.

## Watch for pressure

A good studio gives you time to decide. If a seller pushes you to join the same day, wait. Ask for the terms in writing and think about it.
